Randy Keith Payne

November 11, 1956 — July 27, 2024

Randy Keith Payne was born to Ramon Franklin and Frankie Lucille (Gordon) Payne on November 11, 1956 in Frederick, Oklahoma and departed this life on July 27, 2024 at the age of 67 years, 8 months and 16 days.

Randy grew up in Frederick, OK and was a 1975 graduate of Frederick High School. He married Terry Lee Cobb on February 24, 1978 and to the union, two sons were born. They made their homes in Vernon, Texas; Frederick, Walters, and Chickasha, Oklahoma.

He inherited an admirable work ethic from his parents. Randy was employed and retired from Frito Lay. He could be seen driving the Frito Lay truck all over town, even in parades. His family handed out chips on Halloween making his home a hot spot on the Trick or Treat circuit. He often worked with carpenters and farmers on the side. He owned the Red Pond Ranch north of Walters for many years, sewing wheat and raising cattle. He joined his brother-in-law’s business, Gary Tribble Precast, which he eventually bought and renamed Randy Payne Precast. After selling the business, he joined The Riley Gardner Memorial family, opening the Washita Monument Company in Chickasha where he retired.

Randy spent as much time fishing as possible. He would spend several evenings a week setting and checking bank and trot lines along the Red River when the family resided in Frederick. He owned boats and enjoyed rod and reel fishing on the lake. He created many core memories with family and friends both catching and frying fish. He was known for his sense of humor and was often found laughing hysterically at his own jokes. He liked to manipulate popular song lyrics creating his own jingles. He enjoyed being around children, feeding them sugar, and was exceptional at putting a baby to sleep. Several of his nieces and nephews credit him as their favorite uncle. He loved playing dominoes at family gatherings and was a craftsman while carving a turkey.

He attended The Southern Oaks Church of Christ and was very active volunteering in the Food Room. He was active in each church where he worshiped. Throughout his life he served as deacon, made announcements, delivered sermons, led singing, taught Sunday school to both adults and teenagers, led prayers, served communion, and participated in vacation bible school.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws; his wife, Terry; a son, Stanton; two brothers, Dennis and Rodney Payne; a niece, Nicole Tribble; and nephews, Jared Bundy and Tracy Cobb.

Survivors include his son, Justin Payne of Los Angeles California; his grandsons, Camren and James Payne of the home; his sisters, Linda Tribble of Yukon, Sherry Reddin of Lawton, Brenda Payne of Frederick, and Kay Thomson of Verden; a brother, Gary Payne of Burkburnett, TX; a brother-in-law, Lowell Cobb and wife Julie of Vernon TX; a plethora of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
