Richard Ray Payette was born to Clair Ambrose and Birdie Ruth (Rupe) Payette on July 20, 1958 at Fort Cobb, OK and departed this life in Lawton, OK on May 11, 2023 at the age of 64 years, 9 months and 21 days.
Richard grew up in several towns across the state of Oklahoma as his dad was a Methodist minister and transferred to numerous churches. He and twin Becky graduated from Temple High School in 1976. His parents soon retired to Walters and Richard made it his home as well since that time. He was a welder by trade and had a welding shop for a time in Walters. He did locksmithing and blade sharpening, and drove a truck for a while. He also did a paper route for the Lawton Constitution for 6 years.
Richard enjoyed playing the trombone in high school, square dancing and bowling. He was engineering minded, loved tinkering on vehicles and could make anything with a motor run. He was a member of the Methodist Church all his life and last played the organ for Ryan United Methodist Church with his twin at the piano.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claire and Birdie Payette; 2 brothers, Jessie and David; and sister, Bessie.
Survivors include his twin, Becky Payette of Walters; a sister, Fern Yockyonny; a brother, Donnie Payette; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
