Robert (Bob) Charles Lafferty, Sr., went home to be with his Heavenly Father on January 2, 2020 at the age of 88. Bob was born September 12, 1931, on the Whittington Farm near Lone Wolf, OK to John Binks and Barbara (Jones) Lafferty.
Bob graduated from Cement, OK and went to college at Oklahoma A&M in Stillwater. He was a member of Farmhouse fraternity and graduated with a degree in Agriculture Education. After college, Bob enlisted and served in the U.S. Army and rose to the rank of 1st Lt. United State Infantry.
During his service he met and married the love of his life, Lois Lorene (Newey) Lafferty on May 11, 1953 in Fletcher, OK. They celebrated their 64th anniversary before her death in December 2017.
After his military service, he was a vocational agriculture and science teacher in Oney and later in Carnegie. In 1964/1965 Bob went to work for Farm Home Administration, training in Hollis and later stationed in Walters, retiring in 1990. While at Walters Bob enjoyed a farming and cattle operation, helped establish several rural water districts and ran a successful rural housing loan program.
Bob had an exceptional memory and recollection of places he had been, people he had met and loved telling stories. He enjoyed taking his family to the lake for many years camping and fishing and shared that love with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Walters Church of Christ.
He is preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, John B.
Bob is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert C. Lafferty, Jr. and Lesa of Indiahoma, and Bill Lafferty and Jane of Anadarko; four grandchildren, Ashton Want and husband Carey of Justin, TX, Chase Lafferty of Indiahoma, Austin Lafferty of Dallas, TX, and Lauren Matlock and husband Dexter of Chattanooga; four great grandchildren Dax and Dally Matlock; Axel Want and Cierra Lafferty; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be at the Church of Christ, Walters, Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. with burial in the Cement Cemetery to follow under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home.
