Graveside Services at Fairview Cemetery, Randlett, OK on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters, OK. Visitation on Friday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. with come and go viewing available all day.

Shirley Ann (Baxter) Duncan was born to Noel “Tobe” Baxter and Juanita Elizabeth “Neat” (Holdbrook) Baxter on November 5, 1944 in rural Randlett, OK and departed this life in Burkburnett, TX on May 12, 2021 at the age of 76 years, 6 months and 7 days.

Shirley grew up at Waurika, OK, graduating from Waurika High School in 1963. She married and they moved to California and then to the Dallas area for a time before returning to Waurika. Shirley eventually moved to Temple where she was employed at Haggars for 20 plus years and raised her older three kids for the most part. In 1987 she moved to Lawton and began managing the Lawtonian. After it closed, she worked at nursing homes as social services director and later as the activities director at Cedar Crest Manor until 2019 when her health failed.

Shirley married Larry Maples in 2003. She enjoyed dancing, shopping, and enjoyed her activities and social work at the nursing home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Noel and Juanita Baxter; her daughter, Shirl “Pooh” Duncan; and her brother-in-law, Larry Douglass.

She is survived by 3 children, Billy Duncan and Terrie of Burkburnett, TX, Brian Duncan and Kim of Harlingen, TX, and Angie McGee of Elgin, OK; 2 sisters, Linda Douglass of Lawton, OK, Eva Reece and Gordon of Temple, OK; her husband, Larry Maples of Lawton; 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
