Tommy Joe Elliott

Graveside Service at the Walters Cemetery, Wednesday, March 20 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Arbuary Ritter officiating under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters.

Tommy Joe Elliott was born to Roy and Rosa K. (Bowles) Elliott on October 22, 1946 at Walters and departed this life in Temple, OK on March 17, 2019 at the age of 72 years, 4 months and 23 days.

Tommy lived his early years on a farm north of Walters until the family moved to town while he was in grade school. Through the years Tommy tagged along with various locals on their jobs, helping where he could. You may have said hello to him while entering United Supermarket and he will be remembered by many for his treasure hunting of “things he needed.” He was always looking for money and especially loved coins.

Tommy enjoyed fishing and for many years loved helping the city guys pick up the park after the pow wow, and faithfully helped Butch mow at the cemetery for 3 or 4 years. He also enjoyed working with Ramon Vardell and spending time with the Vardell family. Tommy always had fun visiting cousin Dean’s house where the family loved him and would cut-up with him.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Rosie Elliott. He is survived by 3 cousins, Pauline Riley of Burkburnett, Dean Hooker of Walters and Sally Beavers of Lawton; numerous other cousins and many others in the community who cared about him.
