Memorial Services at First Baptist Church, Devol, OK, on Friday, May 3, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Justin Cardwell officiating under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters, OK.

William Abert Wood II, aka Chip, was born to William Albert and Margaret Ann (Norred) Wood on October 4, 1957 in Wichita Falls, TX and departed this life in Wichita Falls on April 28, 2024 at the age of 66 years, 6 months and 24 days.

Coming from Grandfield, OK in the 2nd grade, Chip lived at Point Comfort, TX until the family returned to Devol, OK in his mid teens. While in high school he worked at the Frederick and Waurika Hospitals and graduated from Big Pasture High School, Randlett, OK in 1976. He made his home in the Bay Area of California from the late 1980’s to 2010 where he continued working in the healthcare field. While in California he also served as leader of the Aids Support Program of the Center for Living and Dying. In 2010 he moved to Austin, TX doing home health care. Due to ill health, Chip hasn’t worked since 2014 and made a move to Arlington, TX. He married Lisa Ann (Funk) Edwards on December 12, 2014 in Dallas, TX. The couple moved to Devol, OK in 2021 to be near his family.

He was very social, enjoyed talking on the phone and was the life of the party. He loved his dogs and animals in general. He enjoyed watching Big Pasture Sports, old TV shows, crime shows and Lester Holt. Chip enjoyed all things family and had taken on his dad’s role of checking on aunts and uncles. He also enjoyed taking his aunt to the casino.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Marsha Lynn Svetlick.

Survivors include his wife, Lisa Wood, of the home; his stepdaughter, Jennifer Krider of Grand Prairie, TX; his stepson, Joseph Edwards and Zac Christenson of Fort Worth, TX; a brother, Michael Henley and Renita of Huntsville, TX; 2 sisters, Milanna Thompson of Grandfield, OK and Dori Lackey of Devol; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.

Memorial Donations can be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls.
