John Henning

Funeral Services at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel, Walters, OK on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 10:00 a.m., Rev. Micky Miller officiating with burial in the Temple Cemetery. Visitation on Friday evening from 6-7:30 p.m. at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Temple, OK. Viewing will also be held from 9 am to 8 pm on Thursday and Friday in Temple.

John Robert Henning was born to Billy Bob and Constance Mae (Hampton) Henning on July 9, 1957 in Edmond, OK and departed this life in Temple, OK on August 21, 2023 at the age of 67 years, 1 month and 12 days. 

The family moved from Edmond, OK to Waurika, OK when John was starting the second grade. He enjoyed playing sports in school and quarterbacked the Eagles football team. He graduated from Waurika High School in 1975 and went on to attend OU for a time. John soon began working in construction, traveling with his job which included a time in the San Diego area. He made his way back to Wichita Falls, TX working construction at Sheppard AFB when he and Wayne Chitwood decided to establish Chitwood-Henning Construction. He retired due to ill health around 2005 making his home near family in Temple since that time. He enjoyed fishing and was avid fan OU Football and the Dallas Cowboys.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Connie Henning; and a brother, Mike Henning.

Survivors include his triplets, Emma, Abigail and Maddison of Wichita Falls; 5 siblings, Danny Henning and Marlan of Franklin, TN; Janice Cole and Glendel of Temple, Pam Thompson of the Waurika Lake, Scott Henning of Temple and David Garvin of Prairie Grove, AR; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
