Graveside Services at Faxon Cemetery on Monday, July 31, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters. Viewing on Thursday, July 27th and Friday, July 28th from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Norma Louise (Turner) Flores was born to Leslie Henry “Slim” and Ruby Fay (Cornwell) Turner on February 2, 1945 in Grandfield, OK and departed this life in Chickasha, OK on July 22, 2023 at the age of 78 years, 5 months and 20 days.
Norma grew up in Chattanooga, OK. She married George Windell Hopkins in 1963 and to the union 3 children were born. They made their home in Amarillo and Houston, TX and Frederick, OK. She was then married to Bobby Joe Burke for a time before her union in 1972 with William Lewis Fowler, to which 3 more children were born. They lived in California, Texas, Louisiana and back to Oklahoma. Bill preceded her in death in 1998. She later married Silvestre Flores on August 24, 2002 in Waurika, OK, making their home in Ryan, OK. He preceded her in death in August of 2021.
Through the years, Norma cooked and was an aide at the Walters nursing home and a cook at the Temple nursing home. She also cooked at the Dairy Queen. While living in Winfield, Louisiana she worked a plywood plant. She returned to Oklahoma living in Ryan and worked as a cook for the senior citizen center and did housekeeping at the nursing homes in Waurika and Ryan. Norma enjoyed dancing and going to the Bowie flea market with Silvestre.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Slim and Ruby; her sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Jim Woods; 2 husbands, Bill Fowler and Silvestre Flores; a son and daughter-in-law, Preston and Sherry Hopkins; and a grandson, Benjiman Cain.
Survivors include 5 children and their spouses, Scott and LaDonna Hopkins of Anadarko, Shelia and Henry Cain of Temple, Louis Fowler of Walters, Charley Fowler of Tampa, FL and John Fowler of Lexington, OK; a daughter-in-law, Staci Jensen of Minnesota; Norma’s sister and brother-in-law, Loretta and Terry Dunbar of Walters; 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends.
